Complete reversal (accessible version)

Assess a problem from a different perspective or stimulate new thinking when you are stuck in a rut

Step 1. Briefly describe the problem or issue (for example: "the room is dark"). When you have described the issue move to step 2.

Step 2. Describe an obvious way of looking at the issue (for example: "Add more light"), When you have done this, move on to step 3.

Step 3. This is called "The reversal". Here you must think about new ways to approach the issue. For instance, the opposite viewpoint, such as inside versus outside, male versus female etc. (For example: "remove the dark"). Have a think about this and then move on to step 4.

Step 4. Write down 3 new ways of approaching the issue (i.e. 3 "reversals")

Once all these steps have been finished, your assignment is complete.
