A day in the life (accessible version)

This exercise aims to help you see things as they are experienced

Step1.The first step is to identify who's life you are going to examine? You may be free to choose your own person, or your teacher might have an example ready for you. When you have a definite idea of your subject, move to step 2.

Step 2 is optional, and will depend on your subject and resources. If it is not appropriate for you, move straight to step 3.

Step2. Try to find a picture or image of your subject. This can be used to provide focus, and could provide you with clues about their daily life. Then move to step 3.

Step 3. Now you need to do some research. You may already have some notes and ideas, but you may need to do some more to gain a good depth of information. Think about where this person lived or lives, and how they live or lived? Do you know enough to be able to form some ideas about their daily life? When you think you do, move to step 4.

Step 4. Now you have identified a person and done some research about them you can start thinking about their daily life. Divide the day into sections, for example :

7am to 9am

9am to 12noon

12noon to 3pm

3pm to 6pm

6pm to 9pm

9pm to midnight.

You may find that the day of your subject would be better divided in a different way, which is fine.

Use the knowledge you have gained in your research to imagine what a day in the life of your subject would be like. When would they get up? Where would they be? What might they wear? Would they have
